How To Be Creative
To be creative you must first create. We believe the questions is, how? Here are some tips by Anna Vital.
Tip 1: No matter how much you motivate yourself, self-doubt will creep in. The good news is there is a window of opportunity right before it to just get something done.
Tip 2: The brain works by connecting neurons. The more physical connections the better you know something. Of course you can’t hack your brain to physically connect things, but we know that just thinking about how things connect builds those physical neuron connections.
Tip 3: When one thought leads to another and then to another, your mind is just taking you on a tour of how it works. Don’t cut it off just because it’s irrelevant. Maybe that’s a hidden insight you just don’t see yet.
Tip 4: If there are two things you like, put them together. Mixing is creating.
Tip 5: Ask why not and you will often be stumped. There is often no reason not to do something.
Tip 6: One of Einstein’s most famous papers turned out to be completely wrong as far as the science. What it did was get a few people angry enough to try to prove it wrong. They did found out how quantum mechanics really works. Don’t be afraid to be wrong. You probably will be anyway and people might thank you for it.
Tip 7: Waiting for a better time to create is a dead-end. If you want to be scientific about it, time doesn’t actually exist. So you can’t control it. What you can control is what you do with your day today.
Tip 8: Your source of creativity might come from something others think is trivial or even worthless. Free stuff that no one wants may be your creative playground.

How To Create A Good Landing Page
People make snap judgements. It takes only 1/10th of a second to form a first impression about a person, and websites are no different. Studies found that the simpler the design, the better.
The human brain chooses to think about things that are easy to digest and understand. That is why you prefer visiting sites where you instinctively know where everything is and you know what actions you’re supposed to take.So, how can we achieve that?
Build Strong Visual Hierarchy. Always rank elements on your website based on your business objective. Set specific goals to help you prioritize what is important. Here is how it can be done:
Keep it clear.
In order to ensure your objective is achieved, these are the design elements you typically want to have on your landing page:
- 1 benefit-oriented headline
- Sub-headline or intro paragraph that lays out the specifics of the offer
- 1-2 paragraphs of body copy
- Bullet list with 3 items
- 1 large image or video
- 1 email capture form with a single call to action button
Do not add copy and/or images unless it communicates something your visitor actually cares about.
Always keep mobile devices in mind.
Tablets and smartphones are taking on a large share of web traffic, and it just keeps growing. Make sure your design is mobile responsive.

How was the beginning of your career in XiMnet Malaysia?
I joined XiMnet on 4, Jan 2010 as an Interactive Designer (Flash). I started off not knowing what is HTML & CSS because designing for Flash and HTML website is very different. While it is challenging, it is also very interesting for me to explore.
Yes. I love to play piano. Chopin, Mozart and Beethoven are my favorite composer. I am currently challenging myself with Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

You Are An OCD, Aren't You?
You know you are an OCD when you start organizing things in some very precise manner.
If you do not know what OCD is, well, Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable, unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviors you feel compelled to perform. If you have OCD, you probably recognize that your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are irrational – but even so, you feel unable to resist them and break free.
However, this disorder creates beautiful masterpieces too. Curated by Austin Radcliffe, Things Organized Neatly is a blog which features good photography of OCD-inspired setup.

5 Questions Asked: Junior Art Director
Sim is our family member since Year 2008 and counting. Recently taken up the role of Junior Art Director, we managed to grab 10 mins from her back-to-back datelines to share with us how life has been working as a creative one.
What do you like most about design? Any area(s) particularly like? Why?
That there’s no one solution to every design problem. Website design & painting because these are the most familiar to me. I would like to try designing spaces & objects in the future :)
1. Find related and unrelated references.
2. Marinating the ideas.
3. Trying the ideas (if short timeline, skip this step).
4. Choose idea & execute.
5. If doesn’t work, go back to step 3.
Best: Eating lunch
Worst: Long meetings out of the office on a busy day / Food coma after lunch
